Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ProofLedger.io (the “Service”), operated by ProofLedger LLC, PO Box 24, Floral City, FL 34436 (“ProofLedger,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What ProofLedger Does
ProofLedger provides a cryptographic timestamping service. Users upload a file client-side, ProofLedger computes a one-way SHA-256 hash in the browser, and the hash (not the file) is anchored to the Polygon blockchain and, optionally, to Bitcoin. ProofLedger does not store, view, or retain user files. ProofLedger operates as a neutral temporal recorder and does not evaluate, interpret, or validate the content of submitted files.
The resulting certificate documents a cryptographic record showing that a specific hash existed at a specific moment in time under ProofLedger’s technical procedure. Certificates are informational representations; the online verification page is the authoritative record. ProofLedger acts as a neutral recorder and does not determine authorship, ownership, legality, or admissibility.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into contracts to use the Service.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms or abuse of the Service.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful activity.
- Upload or attempt to upload malicious files or payloads.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or interfere with ProofLedger systems.
- Misrepresent proof timestamps or certificates.
- Use ProofLedger to anchor illegal, harmful, or unauthorized material.
Violation of this section may result in suspension or termination of your account.
5. Subscriptions & Billing
Paid access and usage-based charges are processed through our payment processor (Stripe). Fees and any applicable limits are disclosed at checkout and in your account.
If you enroll in recurring billing, you authorize recurring charges until you cancel. You may cancel anytime through your account settings; access remains available through the end of the current billing period.
Optional Bitcoin anchoring may be billed per record unless otherwise disclosed at the time of purchase.
6. Refunds
Subscriptions and proof purchases are generally non-refundable, except as required by law. See the Refund Policy for full details.
7. Downtime, Changes & Availability
We may modify, update, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time, including features, pricing, or limits. ProofLedger is not liable for downtime, blockchain congestion, or third-party platform interruptions (Polygon, Bitcoin, or Stripe).
Blockchain anchors are permanent and cannot be modified or deleted once published on-chain. Closing an account or deleting internal metadata does not affect existing blockchain records or previously issued certificates.
8. Intellectual Property
ProofLedger owns all intellectual property related to the Service, except for user-uploaded materials. You retain all rights to your files; ProofLedger never stores them.
You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the Service without our written consent.
9. No Legal Advice; No Warranty
ProofLedger does not provide legal advice. While cryptographic timestamp evidence is commonly used, acceptance and weight are determined by third parties, including courts and agencies.
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- ProofLedger is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- Total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid to ProofLedger in the past 12 months.
Some jurisdictions do not allow such limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Privacy
Your privacy is governed by our Privacy Policy. ProofLedger never stores user files; only one-way hashes.
12. Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes go into effect means you accept the updated Terms.
